Authors: Kate Walton, Essex County Greenbelt Society; Jeff Collins, Massachusetts Audubon Society; Vin Antil, The Trustees of Reservations
Date/Time: Monday, September 22 ~ 10:30 - 12:00
Abstract: The speakers will present and discuss the various uses of GIS among Massachusetts’ non-profit conservation organizations. The Essex County Greenbelt has been using GIS in land protection planning, and the formulation of their "Greenbelt Plan". Mass Audubon is using GIS and GPS in their efforts to control invasive species. The Trustees of Reservations will share how GIS is used in their property management plans and in monitoring Conservation Restrictions. Discussion will also focus on the issues unique to GIS in the land trust setting, and there will be plenty of time for questions.
