"GIS allows users to make support and project management decisions about particular spatial assets such as utilities, or roadway infrastructure. Having access to this data and other related information, while out in the field, allows users to make these decisions in a much faster and efficient manner. In addition, the overall performance and storage capabilities of today's mobile devices allow users gain access to an even wider variety of information in greater amounts. Being able to manage how this information is retrieved in a simple and intuitive manner is vital to the user who requires efficiency or a user may not be as computer "literate". Mobile computing is finally aiding in decision support to users who may not have had it before. |
