Abstract: The Vermont E-911 Board is charged with providing a statewide emergency telecommunication system, accessible to everyone, and to oversee it's operation. Maintaining a statewide GIS database of geocoded street centerlines, and site points for every addressed location, is critical for locating 9-1-1 callers quickly and accurately during an emergency. Vermont's challenge is to distribute GIS data updates quickly and frequently from the E-911 Board's Montpelier offices to call-takers at 11 other locations throughout the state. ArcSDE 9.2 1-Way Replication provides the solution. This presentation will review some of the challenges, pitfalls, and triumphs of this approach, along with some useful tips for other ArcGIS users considering implementation of ArcSDE's 1-way replication architecture.
