For most municipal GIS sites, the parcel layer has served as the primary means to integrate data with spatial locations such as work orders and addresses. As technology advanced, so did the ability to spatial enable GIS data more efficiently and accurately. The biggest question that came about was how to do this. The answer was sitting there all along: The Road Centerline. From geo-coding addresses to routing E-911 calls, the road centerline has become one of the most powerful layers in the GIS. This presentation will focus on how the Road Centerline layer can be used by municipalities to help with everyday applications such as vehicle routing to more complex issues such as site planning a fire house. Whatever you spatial issues are, the road centerline is here to help." |
