| Abstract: | The field of GIS is extremely dynamic with rapidly evolving user and development tools. For those wishing to better understand how to use GIS in there work or become a GIS professional the educational options can be difficult to navigate. This presentation will provide an overview of these options. The availability and structure of academic programs, both in-person and via the web will be discussed in detail. Comparisons will be made between the skills taught by these programs and those that users and professional actually need. The GIS-P certification program will also be referenced. A lively discussion period is anticipated. |
