| Abstract: | GIS is emerging as integrated alternative for engineering design and modeling, and infrastructure management. The presentation is to highlight how Columbus conversion tools are used to accelerate the adoption of GIS. for 'in door' and facility management. Background: In the absence of a single GIS/ CAD application used by Facility Management professional, Facility Managers are facing a mixed environment with multiple GIS and CAD applications that need to share geospatial and tabular data. Using GIS Applications for Facility Management The presentation will highlight the value of geospatial data integrated with CAD for use by GIS Facility Management applications. The discussion will focus on CAD integration as mean for augmenting FM GIS-enables applications (Archibus, Miner & Miner[o1] ). Using ADR for CAD to GIS conversion: The focus of the presentation is the conversion of CAD to GIS, using ADR tools. We will highlight the FM data models, automatic creation of polylines and polygans and the flexibility of ADR in configuring data models for GIS FM clients. This section will include a 15 minutes real time demonstration uploading CAD to GIS FM application (the application is TBD) Other ADR features: The presentation will touch upon other features of ADR in the context of FM: including: capturing 3D facility data (creating BIM models), using for validation, using for space utilization analysis. |
