| Abstract: | Accurate and updated GIS data is the goal for any organization which creates and maintains data sets. If the data is accurate, then the end user will be able to make better and more informed decisions from GIS. Unfortunately, keeping up with ever-changing data sets is a job municipalities often have a hard time keeping up with. Cambridge GIS has created procedures for in-house maintenance of every GIS layer in an attempt to keep our data current, and assure the layers are valid and spatially accurate. This talk will be an overview of our on-going data maintenance project. We will look at interdepartmental workflows, editing procedures, some of the update procedures, our new GIS data dictionary, and our data distribution policies. |
