Niels la Cour, Associate Planner Undertaking a Photogrammetry Base Mapping Project: Lessons Learned In 1995 the Town of Amherst embarked on a long journey to acquire highly accurate base map information to base a municipal GIS on. After several years and hundreds of thousands of dollars, that base map information is finally being delivered. Amherst is very pleased with its final products and is satisfied that for the most part, we have done things right. However, in any undertaking of this magnitude and complexity, there were many lessons learned along the way. The purpose of our presentation is to share our experience with other who have, or are about to contract for similar services. We will discuss much of what we did right, but also share things that could’ve been done better, problems that might be avoided with the benefit of hind-sight. |
