Marci Phinney Examples of GIS Application Services Provided by a Multidisciplinary Consulting Firm The Saratoga Associates is a multidisciplinary consulting firm of architects, landscape architects, engineers and planners that utilize the tools of GIS on an everyday basis to solve real world problems related to land use planning, economic development and resource conservation. The analysis we perform to help answer these questions ranges from basic spatial queries and overlay of resources, to site selection analysis, building suitability analysis, viewshed analysis, 3D visualization, and network analysis. I will present two examples of analysis that we have recently performed for clients. The first example involved a series of viewshed analyses conducted as part of a visual assessment project for St. Lawrence Cement in Hudson, NY to determine the visual impact of a proposed cement plant, dock port and conveyor system. The second example involved site selection analysis to locate a new camp/conference center complex for an institutional client. |
