| Abstract: | The Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) at the University of Connecticut has recently completed a new version (Version 2) of the statewide land cover project called Connecticut's Changing Landscape. Version 2 is both an update and upgrade. The update is the addition of 2006 land cover to the 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2002 land cover datasets. Connecticut now has five dates of consistently-created land cover spanning a 21 years that can be used for change determination. The upgrade means that each land cover map from each date has been improved. The most significant improvement is the addition of an Agriculture class. In the Version 1 land cover, Agriculture was grouped with Other Grasses as a single land cover class. The Version 2 dataset separates Agriculture into its own class. All other classes have been refined and improved. The presentation will focus on what the new dataset tells us in terms of land cover trends, as well as a comparison of the Version 1 and Version 2 datasets. |
