Title: NH GRANIT Data Mapper: a web-based GIS resource for NH
Authors: Shane Bradt, Jennifer Lingeman
Poster: The NH GRANIT Data Mapper is a web-based mapping tool offering New Hampshire's communities, agencies and organizations, and the general public access to a comprehensive collection of geospatial data archived in GRANIT at the Complex Systems Research Center at the University of New Hampshire. This tool offers the power of GIS to people with no previous experience in geospatial technologies. The Mapper has been developed to support communities by providing maps and analysis typically incorporated in community master plans. It offers a significant technical resource to the many rural communities in the state with small or no planning staff, while at the same time, serves as a valuable resource to larger communities by providing the capacity use data at a multi-community or regional level. The layers available in the Mapper have been grouped into several themes, including Base Map, Flood Plains, Conservation Lands, Soils, Transportation and Water Resources. Within these themes, layers can be turned on and off, thematic representations can be modified, and basic queries and analysis can be conducted. GRANIT's hope is that the Mapper will be utilized to inform and expand decision-making at the local, regional, and statewide levels. The Mapper can be found at http://mapper.granit.unh.edu/.
