The Vermont Association of Planning and Development Agencies (VAPDA), Orton Family Foundation, Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC), and the Town of Hinesburg, Vermont partnered to support the use of Community Viz Scenario 360 in the decision-making process for revisions to Hinesburg Village's zoning regulations. CCRPC staff worked with Hinesburg's Town Planner to implement Community Viz Scenario 360 to calculate and visualize various potential density scenarios during several Planning Commission meetings. Google Earth and Google SketchUp were used to generate a conceptual 3D scene of a significant potential growth area in the Hinesburg Village re-zoning effort. The 3D scene illustrates how the style, placement and quantity of buildings can be sited on the landscape to accommodate future growth and achieve village scale development. Melanie Needle will demonstrate how Community Viz Scenario 360 and Google Earth can be used to assist Planning Commissioners and the public explore whether the Village's proposed zoning regulations are consistent with the Town Plan's goals and sewer capacity. |
