The Town of Warren, a Vermont ski resort community with a population of 1,700, has many needs and requirements that rival larger communities. To support an initial need of completing a town-wide property revaluation, the Town implemented a GIS program. This initial program has since 'taken off' into an enterprise-wide solution that includes extensive GIS data, WebGIS capabilities, and an extensive hardware and software environment. This presentation will focus on the process the Town of Warren went through to implement a town-wide GIS, from gathering political support to obtaining grant funding to GIS development and implementation. It will also focus on the growing pains encountered along the way and provide details on the 'big town' technologies used in this small community. |
